I am a Senior Research Associate in Dr. Lirman’s Coral Restoration and Benthic Ecology Laboratory. I assist in field work including outplanting, monitoring, and helping graduate students conduct their research.
I also help manage the Rescue a Reef Program by coordinating and leading citizen science expeditions, outreach/education, and events. I work closely with our Canon and Carolan Foundation Fellows as a mentor, helping students to grow in different areas. Over the course of their fellowship they improve their dive skills, boost their resumes, and become ambassadors for Rescue a Reef.
Prior to coming to the University of Miami, I received my Bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University. I then went on to do my Master’s at Nova Southeastern University where I studied Staghorn fecundity and ecotoxicology. After graduating in 2022, I worked as a Staff Biologist and Captain at Mote Marine Laboratory in Summerland Key. As a member of their Coral Restoration team, I became proficient in coral husbandry, scientific diving, and captaining small vessels.
I am very grateful to be a core member of the Rescue a Reef team! We attend really awesome events, and I am fortunate enough to help train the next generation of coral scientists and restoration advocates!
